Abstract
Silicon detector modules for the Endcap of the ATLAS semiconductor tracker have been designed and many devices have now been fabricated and tested. Results obtained from testing a module individually with electrical test pulses injected into the front-end are presented. These modules are shown to fulfill the electrical requirements demanded of the devices. The modules however, must operate in a large-scale system with many hundreds of modules in close proximity to each other. To validate the electrical performance of such a system, a "system test" has been established at CERN. The grounding and shielding of the Endcap is vital for the performance of the experiment. Therefore the electrical performance of the modules with various grounding schemes has been explored in detail at the system test and is presented here.
