Abstract :
In the present digital era, e-journals have become preferred source of information among the scientists/ researchers/ academics worldwide because of various reasons. To provide e-journals service to the users, most of the libraries have either formed libraries consortia or joined some e-journals consortia. In many foreign countries like USA, UK the e-journals services are very common. Now, many libraries in India also have started online access to e-journals to their users either through consortium or e-journals access along with print journals subscription by paying extra content fee. This paper discusses the developments of e-resources consortia in India in brief as well as their role in promoting e-journals among the users through information centres/ libraries at comparatively low price. The paper also mentions some of important issues related to e-journals consortia in India and their possible solutions.
