Abstract :
In this paper using matrix converter theory and B4 inverter concept, a novel minimized switch two-phase matrix converter for driving two-phase induction motor is proposed. The proposed converter, which is simple and compact, has less switches compare to prior topologies and its input voltage is single-phase which is available in commercial and domestic applications. A sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) switching strategy is proposed to provide sinusoidal output waveforms with two-phase loads without any intermediate dc stage. The proposed minimized switch two-phase matrix converter and switching strategy can generate the two-phase output voltages/currents where the amplitudes are independently controlled and the phases difference is fixed at 90°. Detailed analysis is provided for proposed converter with a three-phase balanced R-L load, also proposed converter is used for driving two-phase induction motor. Simulation results verify validity and performance of the proposed converter.
