Abstract :
A 60-Mbaud QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) linear transversal equalizer IC which contains four complex-valued filter taps achieves a computational throughput of 1.44 GOPS (giga operations per second). The chip is cascadable and includes on-chip LMS (least mean square) coefficient updating circuitry. The 78,000-transistor 6.5-mm × 7.5-mm IC dissipates 950 mW at 60 MHz
