Abstract
Tendency to simple and robust machine in harsh applications, makes Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) appealing for many industries. In this paper, an 8/6 two-layer Switched Reluctance Motor is investigated for servo applications with shifting a rotor of one set respect to other set. Rotor shifting technique (RST) is an innovative method which is proposed as simple, efficient way to reduce torque ripple in multilayer SR motors. This technique is applied to study case motor to find out its correspondences to such servo application which needs smooth torque profile. Then simulation analysis is performed using 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) to verify suitable response of its output torque. The results show that this motor plus RS technique can be promising to such servo application.
