Abstract :
We report the synthesis of a tin(IV) protoporphyrin reconstituted myoglobin from apomyoglobin and tin(IV) protoporphyrin and examine its stability toward light. Light stability studies show that the reconstituted myoglobin does not maintain structural integrity upon exposure to light and suggests that tin(IV) protoporphyrin leads to the degradation of the protein through reactions that are photocatalytic in manner.
