Abstract :
In this paper, the operation and control strategies of two commercially available variable speed wind turbines, the Optislip and Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG), are investigated in detail by Matlab/Simulink. The standard deviation of output power is compared below rated wind speed based on measured wind speed profile. The impact of Optislip shaft inertia in the power fluctuation is also studied.
