Abstract :
Summary form only given. Despite the age of CAMAC standard, camac boards are ubiquitous in any HEP laboratory and still used for small experiments or test setups. A new kind of CA-MAC crate controller has been designed to simplify and speed up the hardware and software development of DAQ systems. Its main features include: easy connectivity by means of a 10/100Mbit Ethernet link and full remote control through a TCP socket connection. IP access security features: full implementation of all CAMAC functions including DMA; local dynamic web server for remote monitoring, configuration and crate diagnostic; embedded Linux processing core. Eight programmable NIM I/Os on front panel allow easy implementation of stand-alone DAQ systems: I/Os can be programmed to accept trigger signals and generate BUSY levels. for precise event measurements. or as programmable pulse generator. All NIM I/O functions and controls are accessible through TCP socket connection and from within the local web pages. An ASCII-based command protocol . a builtin script interpreter, ANSI C and TCL libraries make software development fast and easy. Web-based remote controls allow simple use even to non-expert people.
