Abstract :
The number of power converters being controlled by a digital hardware is increasing steadily. Modern microcontrollers´ and digital signal processors´ (DSP) extended computing capabilities enable the implementation of more complex control schemes. Additionally high power applications demand special handling of signal detection and distribution due to electromagnetic interference (EMI) effects. This paper discusses the parallel architecture of a developed voltage regulator module (VRM) and the controller hardware focusing on control strategies. The implementation of those complex strategies in software and in programmable logic devices (PLD) is described in the following. Finally experimental results are compared with simulation data.
