Abstract :
Summary form only given. Inverted opals made from high refractive index (RI) semiconductors have been recognized as prospective structures for constructing omnidirectional photonic bandgap (PBG) materials operating in the visible. This has not yet been achieved, however, some features expected for the emission from photonic crystals with complete gap can be traced in structures with sub-threshold RI contrast. Here we distinguish the PBG effect upon the emission from band-pass filtering reported so far. We give a report on our photoluminescence spectra results.
