Abstract :
StylPen, a system designed to cancel pathological tremor in computer pen input, is tested in real time. The adaptive algorithm, called the WFLC (Weighted-frequency Fourier Linear Combiner) algorithm, estimates tremor frequency as well as amplitude and executes filtering operations to cancel the tremor. StylPen was tested on a subject with pathological tremor. The subject was asked to write a series of words in cursive as his handwriting was filtered in real time. Qualitative comparisons were made between normal writing and filtered writing; results were favorable to the handwriting using StylPen and its WFLC filtering algorithm
