Abstract :
Capability of provision of frequency response by convertor based wind turbines was investigated for a 2020 high wind penetration scenario. Using a reduced order delta torque model and aggregated plant and loads, system frequency deviation was observed for a step imbalance in load-generation. Both cases of wind only response and wind plus synchronous response showed an effective contribution from the wind turbine plant.
