Abstract
In this work, the performance of trellis coded modulation with improved non-coherent receivers is examined for application to personal and mobile satellite communications. The schemes are analyzed and evaluated in additive white Gaussian noise, Rayleigh, Rician and shadowed channels. Evaluations have shown that the improved non-coherent receivers are capable of providing considerable improvement in performance as compared to the conventional differential receivers
