Abstract :
Unified Power Quality Conditioners (UPQC) is implemented to mitigate voltage and current transients and to load reactive power compensation. It consists of a unified series and shunt converter. Various control technique has been developed for the control of both series and shunt converters. In this paper, the performance of Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) based on Current Source Converter (CSC) topology is measured. The topology (CSC-UPQC) is dynamic and it mitigates the voltage disturbances effectively. The current and voltage references are generated based on Phase Locked Loop and Synchronous reference frame theory for shunt and series converter. The proposed control scheme regulates the load voltage due to transient disturbances while mitigating the load current harmonics.
