Abstract :
This paper presents a motor-generator control operation using a double sided permanent magnet linear synchronous motor. Two sides of the machine are controlled independently to work in different modes, where one side is used to drive the motor and the other side to simulate various load conditions, such that performances of the machine and developed control system are tested without any extra mechanism required. Two controllers dedicated for controlling the two sides respectively are presented and test results from real time implementation of the complete system are given and assessed in this paper
