Abstract :
Given the monopolistic market structure of the telecommunications industry in Europe, the commercial success of VSAT´s hinges not only on future developments in the engineering of the technology, but as the author argues, is also inextricably linked to the pace and degree of market liberalization as observed in the United States. The author outlines some of the market regulatory issues in Europe which will impact future demand for VSAT technology. The focus is exclusively on Western Europe.<>
