Exploitation of C band VSATs
Abstract :
The initial development of VSAT and data broadcast systems in the US and in Europe has been directed towards financial services information providers where the principal application is delivering information to customers. One of the first operational services was the Telekurs Advanced Quotation (TAQ) service developed by Telekurs UK, part of the Swiss financial institution Telekurs AG. The system has been operational for more than two years and has exceeded expectation for both installed subscriber base and profitability. The author describes the TAQ in detail and sets out some of the experience gained in the development and operation of this highly successful system.<>
