Abstract
The author discusses a low data rate mini SCPC multi-point to point network of C-band VSAT´s located within a global footprint for monitoring, control and data acquisition applications with a hub in UK. This VSAT data network is characterised by lower operating costs compared with conventional private circuits and packet switching services. Obtaining a licence to operate the remote VSATs is the key to exploitation of this solution. Voice and video compression technologies focus increased interest on lower data rate networks and the feasibility of using VSATs within global beams makes their use commercially attractive.<>
