Abstract :
This paper performs the evaluation and comparison of performance after a load change of three control strategies-LQR Nonzero Set point (NZSP), Sliding Mode and Current Mode control for Cuk converter with non-idealities in components. The application consists of driving the contrast pins of an LCD based screens, requiring 50 Watts power delivered to the load. The Cuk converter with a variable input is employed to maintain the uniform output current and voltage through its operation of driving the contrast pins. State space averaging is used to model the system. All the controllers are implemented and compared against the settling time, efficiency to evaluate the best control strategy for the selected application.
