Abstract :
Ultrasonic gas flowmeters are, a new development because of the difficulties due to the low acoustic coupling between an ultrasonic transducer and the gas. This problem has now been reduced by more efficient transducers, better acoustic matching and more efficient electronics for signal analysis. This development has resulted in gradually exchange from hot wire flowmeters to acoustic flowmeters for flare gas measurement in the oil and gas industry. The same process has now been initiated concerning use of multibeam high precision ultrasonic gas flowmeters instead of the traditional differential pressure flowmeters and turbine meters
