Abstract :
There has been an increasing demand in industrial flow measurement for the measurement of the mass flowrate of fluids (liquids or gases) rather than their volumetric flowrate. This has been particularly true for fluids where the energy flow is related to the mass flowrate of the fluid rather than its volumetric flowrate. The use of ultrasonic techniques for the mass flowrate measurement of liquids provides a technique which is non-intrusive and can be employed over the whole range of pipe sizes encountered in industrial situations. The authors discuss the mass flow measurement method based on an acoustic impedance measurement system
