Abstract :
A relay assisted network to increase the distance of high bandwidth data applications in free space optical communication is proposed. Modulated signal is amplified and decoded in the relay nodes to reduce the bit error probability. Serial relay assisted network with five relay nodes between the transmitter and receiver is considered and the performance of the system is analyzed by assuming gamma - gamma channel parameters. The system is evaluated for varying turbulence conditions from strong to weak using optisystem. Optical wireless system using amplify and forward (AF) relaying protocol is considered and bit error rate is obtained for the relay nodes and the receiver.
