Abstract :
This study is to develop the safety management system for the risk-free backward operation of forklift trucks using RFID which can provide an efficient management system for the supply chain of plumbing pipe-pallets used in shipbuilding industry, and Ubiquitous Sensor Network(USN) sensor technology. The shipbuilding environment includes potential risk factors from operating vehicles such as forklift trucks and other transportation. Safety accidents at the shipbuilding industry in Korea sharply increased in 2003. It was reported that the rate of safety accidents in shipbuilding industry did not show significant changes from 2004 to 2008. However, the number of safety accidents has been increased since 2008. Therefore, this study developed the safety management system for the risk-free backward operation of forklift trucks using RFID and USN technology. This system includes (1) the operators´ safety management system, which can prevent potential risk factors prior to operating up-/down-loading and allow operators to share real-time information, and (2) the integrated monitoring system for the safe occupational. It is expected that this study will contribute to preventing possible risk factors which may be happened in the process of transporting vessel plumbing pipes, and finally it will lead to establishing the safe occupational environment in shipbuilding industry.
