  • Abstract
Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is considered to be one of the most important emerging technologies in recent world. The important application of MANET is in military and disastrous environment where setting up of an infrastructure is difficult. The major challenges in this network are power capability, mobility and memory. The main purpose of this paper is to enhance the hybrid routing protocol of MANET by suitable design to reduce mobility issue of nodes and better power management. Hence threshold based hybrid routing protocol which supports a mobile node to selectively run the routing protocol based on its current velocity using polymorphic algorithm is proposed in this work. The paper describes a new approach for routing in MANET that is based on the concept of polymorphic behavior. The proposed protocol shows better performance than existing Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) in terms of packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and throughput. The protocol combines the benefits from high efficiency of proactive nature in high speed response to transmission requests and the limited network traffic overhead of the reactive behavior. The ns2 is used as simulation.
