Abstract
Summary form only given. Recent experiments on optical control have involved the use of chirped pulses. The effects of varying the chirp and intensity of an ultrashort pulse exciting dye molecules in liquid solutions on the integrated fluorescence and the absorption spectrum have been investigated experimentally. We have calculated the absorption spectrum of an intense chirped pulse exciting a solute molecule in a solvent. We considered a strongly broadened vibronic system with dissipation interacting with an intense chirped pulse.
