Abstract :
The LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider is designed to study CP violation effects and other rare phenomena in the b system. The detector is designed as a forward spectrometer operating at a luminosity of 2×1032 cm-2 s-1 and at a rate of 40 MHz. With the assumed cross section of 0.5 mb 1012 bb~ pairs per year are expected. The components of the LHCb detector especially for achieving an excellent tracking and efficient particle identification as well as the trigger are discussed.
