Abstract :
Within the access network debate, this paper deals with the broadband wireless solution and presents a link budget evaluation of the LMDS transmission system. In order to obtain performance results, a simulator has been implemented including a model for a 42 GHz actual amplifier, a two-ray radio channel model and a QPSK receiver, where algorithms for the carrier recovery and the time synchronization were carefully considered. Cell-dimensioning was performed by means of link budget evaluations. Results show the optimum cell size for different numbers of adjacent channels amplified by the same HPA.
