Abstract :
In this paper, a novel slow-wave structure consisting of a triangular cross-section helix supported inside a metallic envelope using azimuthally symmetrically placed three rectangular dielectric support rods is proposed. The slow-wave characteristics of the structure are computed using 3D electromagnetic simulation in CST-studio and compared to an equivalent circular helix slow-wave structure. The circuit shows higher on-axis interaction impedance compared to its circular-helix counterpart SWS.
