Abstract
Cross gain compression in semiconductor optical amplifier provides effective RZ-to-NRZ conversion, with the highest obtained pulsewidth increase, from 10 to 100 ps. It allows transmission of the output 10 Gb/s NRZ signal on metro-like links with limited power penalty.
