Abstract :
A semi-blind technique for demodulating a user´s signal in the presence of multiple access interference (MAI) anti-multipath propagation for DS-CDMA signals is considered. The technique originally formulated for short-burst TDMA is carefully adapted for the case of CDMA spread spectrum systems. It is shown, via simulations, that our approach outperforms the conventional training-based approach to MAI suppression. Application of this technique is in 3rd generation DS-CDMA systems where it has been proposed that pilot symbols (training) be periodically time-multiplexed with information symbols on the data channel for each user.
