  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Polaritonic effects in the resonant exciton secondary emission in disordered multiple quantum well (MQW) structures present an interesting but controversial issue. Pronounced oscillations of polaritonic origin have been observed in MQWs with an extremely narrow exciton line or with a large number of QWs. In these two limiting cases, the overall radiative coupling strength is larger than the inhomogeneous broadening, and radiative coupling plays a dominant role. The importance of such effects in the general case is, however, still unclear. We investigate the role of polaritonic effects in MQW structures by treating the Maxwell equations and the Schrodinger equation for the exciton center-of-mass on equal basis. We compute the time-resolved, configuration-averaged secondary emission.
