Abstract
A new form of discrete-time state model for linear dynamical systems is derived. Unlike conventional discrete-time models, this new model accommodates cases where the values of the system inputs (controls u(t) and/or disturbances w(t)) may vary continuously with time (in an uncertain manner) over each sample-interval kT⩽t<(k+1)T. This new discrete-time model has important applications in system parameter identification, adaptive control, and digital control
