Title :
Providing multiple fast-forward ratios with fixed network/disk bandwidth
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
It is difficult to provide multiple fast-forward (ff) ratios for video-on-demand systems. To ensure efficient network and disk support, fast-forward and normal play should require the same bandwidth. Different techniques such as resolution reduction, frame-rate reduction, and multi-region disk layout can be applied to minimize the bandwidth requirement, and these are discussed in this paper
