Abstract
In this work the poling process of the NLO guest-host system consisting of poly(methyl metacrylate): PMMA, and disperse red 1, DR1, is investigated with the purpose of getting information about the poling process and then optimize it. Measurements of pyroelectric activity of the poled samples are employed to evaluate the efficiency of the process since its value is directly proportional to the electric polarisation in the sample. Here, the poling was performed using the corona triode with constant current allowing one to measure the sample voltage during charging and parameters such as the temperature, electric field and poling time were varied. It is also shown that the electric conduction and also the dielectric constant can be obtained from the potential build-up curves
