Abstract :
In the design of classical predictive control, the model uses the future control signal to obtain the predicted output. The model using integrating mode requires large length of prediction horizon. The computational burden increases due to larger prediction horizon, fast sampling and process dynamics. This paper describes the use of Orthonomal basis function such as Laguerre function for the control of DC drive. The use of Laguerre function simplifies the optimization procedure. The accurate optimization can be obtained in short time with fine tuning of the Laguerre parameters. The performance of Laguerre function is compared with traditional approach in discrete Model predictive control.
