Abstract :
Technical communicators understand that converting a paper-based manual to the online world does not merely require “dumping” the document. Likewise, converting a paper-based resume to an electronic one is not simply a function of “dumping” the document online. The technology impacts purpose and audience, and therefore, influences the ways in which to design the document. This paper focuses on some of the differences between paper-based and online resumes. It shows that the “body of knowledge” under which technical communicators normally operate does not necessarily apply in the realm of the online resume world
