Abstract :
During the autumn of 1997, Ericsson Mobile Communications AB, Lund, Sweden, conducted a series of qualitative market tests on user manuals for mobile phones. The purpose of these tests was to see what people in six different countries-Sweden, Great Britain, Italy, the USA, Hong Kong and Malaysia-thought about the layout and functionality of four different types of manuals, or manual concepts.
