Abstract :
In concert with a continuous improvement initiative, the information development team of Motorola´s Imaging Systems Division determined that the structure of existing documentation was inadequate for optimal user navigation and transfer of knowledge. The information development team embarked on a feasibility study to confirm its preference for using the Information Mapping methodology and documentation template over the template that had been in use for several years. Near-unanimous results confirmed users´ preference for the Information Mapping template and methods. The paper addresses not only the Information Mapping methodology in general, but touches upon the ramifications of poorly designed documentation and how it influences a user´s receptivity to technology
