Abstract :
We have built an inexpensive, room temperature Continuous Wave LINear electron ACcelerator, a CWEL, which is compact, reliable, and safe and can form the basis of a mobile irradiation unit, to produce 0.5-2.0 MeV, 10-30 mA, and 10-30 kW electron beams. We have improved our present CWEL by: (1) decreasing the injection energy and eliminating the bunching system; (2) maximizing the shunt impedance; and (3) simplifying the RF power supply system. We present our CWEL experimentally and sketch our modified design
