  • Abstract
In this paper, we revisit network availability of sensor grids that we obtained in our previous work. The significance of critical nodes in ensuring network connectivity that form such grids is emphasized here as a basis of our proposals subsequently. The contribution of this paper is two fold. One, we propose a protocol and two algorithms that allow routing load to be distributed fairly in the grid; eventually enhancing the network availability. Second, we propose a node-link-failure recovery scheme for sensor grids that is implemented at no additional communication cost. Comparison of simulation results is evident of enhancement in terms of network lifetime. Fault tolerant protocol handles the problem of quickly depleting network connectivity by detouring as a node local decision
