Abstract :
Summary form only given. The subpicosecond laser pulse is focused into a pulsed gas jet which has an atomic density of about 1017 cm-3 in the interaction region. The VUV light generated in the nonlinear interaction with the atomic medium is analyzed along the laser axis by using a grating monochromator. The harmonic spectrum has a characteristic universal shape
