Abstract :
A modification to the classical GMSK waveform is presented. The new waveform, called pulse driven GMSK (PDGMSK), differs from the classical definition in that it converges to SDPSK or DPSK for large filter bandwidths. This allows a trade of spectral efficiency for demodulator complexity. After describing the salient features of PDGMSK, some of its spectral properties are given. It is shown how the bandwidth of the modulated signal remains nearly constant as the symbol rate changes. Some performance results of using PDGMSK with the simplified demodulator structures are given
