Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. High power propulsion systems for transportation are currently in an exciting phase. Several concepts are being studied which aim to increase the flexibility and reliability and decrease the cost of a traction system. Among them are distributed drives which put rigorous demands on the packaging of the converter and the power component. A survey is included of the current status of high power converters and semiconductors and trends of integration
