Title :
High performances high voltage generator regulated by LVI
Abstract :
Experiences with the LVI (linear variable inductor) are described to demonstrate this device as a true alternate current source with instantaneous current limiting capabilities. Application of the LVI as regulating element in a low-ripple, high-voltage DC power supply is discussed. The 50% duty-cycle operation and the use of amorphous materials allow a power density of more than 300 W/kg. In order to verify the LVI´s capabilities, an experimental high-voltage generator rated for 15 kV-300 W was built and tested. The generator is described, and the most important experimental results are presented.<>
