Abstract
Multipath propagation is a serious phenomenon that will affect almost any radio system irrespective of the radio frequency band, i.e., HF, VHF, and UHF. Even though for different systems the propagation mechanisms differ, there will always be a replica introduced at the receiver which will give rise to fading, ISI, ghosting, etc. We attempt to describe several techniques of combating the effects of multipath propagation. Some of these date as far back to the 1950s
