Abstract :
Presents an important step in the progression of the development of a clinical work-station for the real time analysis of wheelchair propulsion. The design described is a PC interface for the analysis and simultaneous display of kinematic data and the net joint forces and moments in the sagittal plane at the wrist, elbow, and shoulder of a wheelchair user during the propulsion stroke. Implementation of this analysis system in software serves as a vital step in integrating real-time data acquisition from a wheelchair work-station into clinically useful information. Additionally, an efficient and effective method for analyzing and evaluating upper extremity kinematic and kinetic data during wheelchair propulsion is presented
