Abstract :
This paper deals with the reverse link performance of a slotted direct sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) cellular system with voice and data traffic sharing the same bandwidth. Capacity is studied based on interference analysis. We focus on the mutual interaction between services. The impacts of power level and power control error on the capacity, throughput and delay are analyzed. It is shown that system performance can be improved by selecting appropriate power levels for different services and having a tight power control, especially on voice calls. When the source rate of a data call is twice as high as that of a voice call, two schemes of transmitting data are compared. In scheme 1 and 2, each data packet occupies one and two slots respectively. Under the same capacity condition, better delay performance is achieved by scheme 2
