Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a flexible pulse design scheme that can be applied to ultra-wideband (UWB) pulse shaping. We employ the Nyquist criterion for the design of band-limited signals for no inter-symbol interference. The roll-off factor is applied to the UWB emission power mask. We obtain the transmit power that satisfies the UWB emission power mask as a function of the roll-off factor. We show that the transmit power gradually decreases as the roll-off factor increases. On the other hand the pulse ringing power decreases rapidly at low values of the roll-off factor
