The present research aims at describing a simplified 3D finite element dynamic analysis of shot impacting on a metallic component with considering spring back analysis after shot impact for study on Influence of shot velocity, shot size, multiplicity of shot and effect of friction coefficient on shotpeening process. The finite element package ABAQUS 6.9 is used to simulate the procedure corresponding to the experimental operation. Because it is capable; the explicit dynamic algorithm is used to simulate the numerous impacts. Then the general static algorithm is used to provide the resulting deformed shape as a spring-back analysis. The model is first validated by comparison of the residual stress profiles obtained by simulation and result X-Ray diffraction technique that was proposed by M. Frija et al. The results of simulations showed that, residual stress distribution was highly dependent on impact velocity and size shots. Also maximum magnitude residual stress is reduced after spring back.
