Abstract :
Transferring Ethernet over SONET/SDH (EoS) is a simple and robust technique to connect LANs within a private and public network. But until now, when mapping Ethernet frame into SDH stream, Ethernet have to be forced into an oversized SDH carrier, and which will inevitably cause a huge waste of bandwidth. We utilize virtual concatenation technique to `right-size´ the SDH pipes for Ethernet - transport Gigabit Ethernet data using a group of virtually concatenated STS-1 timeslots within a 2.5 Gbps SDH carrier. In this paper, we use virtually concatenated channel to perform an address resolution protocol on EoS. By using this technique, we can reduce the traffic size of broadcast and have an effect on using channel on EoS
